Achieving Outstanding Reading and Math Growth in San Diego

Collins-Parr Elementary in San Diego, Texas (K–5, 760 students; 80% economically disadvantaged) sought to raise reading and math achievement after winning a four-year Texas Title I Priority Schools (TTIPS) grant. Looking for a single K–8 solution for early learning and RTI, school leaders evaluated and selected Edmentum’s Exact Path to better target foundational skills and support students performing below grade level.

Beginning fall 2017, the school enrolled all K–2 students and tier 2/3 3rd–5th graders in Exact Path, set 20-minute daily usage expectations, purchased tablets for home access, and used program data to drive small-group instruction and teacher-led incentives. As a result, students placing at or above grade level rose from 36% on the first diagnostic to 55% on the second and 79% by the final diagnostic, with especially strong gains in the earliest grades.
