Vegetable growers become energy self-sufficient through Edina biogas CHP

Gilfresh Produce, a family-run vegetable grower in Northern Ireland, sought to achieve energy self-sufficiency and meet its environmental goals. They partnered with vendor Edina to implement a solution that would utilize waste from their operations.

Edina supplied and installed a 500kWe MWM biogas CHP engine, which uses waste vegetables to generate renewable energy. This solution powers Gilfresh's entire business and allows them to export surplus electricity to the grid for additional income. The project has made the company approximately 80% energy self-reliant and supports their overarching ecological and strategic objectives. Edina also provides long-term maintenance for the plant.
