Indaver Waste-to-Energy Plant Standby Generation

The customer, Indaver, required a reliable emergency power solution for its new €140 million waste-to-energy facility in Ireland. The challenge was to prevent any disruption to the advanced waste disposal and energy creation process caused by a failure of the main grid or the plant's own turbine supply. The vendor, Edina, was brought on board to provide this critical standby generation.

Edina implemented a 1,650kVA standby diesel generator powered by a Perkins engine and a Newage Stamford alternator. This solution supports the plant's critical loads and enables a safe shutdown during a power failure. The generator also has the innovative capability to synchronize and share load with the main grid. During the site's construction, the generator supplied daily power, and it now serves as a full-time emergency backup, ensuring the facility's operational security.
