Case Study: Biffa achieves renewable energy from waste with Edina biogas CHP

A Edina Case Study

Preview of the Biffa Case Study

Edina supplies biogas CHP to largest AD plant in Europe

The customer, Biffa, a major waste management company, required a solution for its new anaerobic digestion (AD) facility to convert food waste into renewable energy. The vendor, Edina, was selected to supply a high-efficiency biogas combined heat and power (CHP) system to generate electricity and heat from the process.

Edina supplied, installed, and containerized three MWM TCG 2020 V20 biogas CHP engines, providing a 6.5MWe capacity. The solution allows the plant to power its own extensive operations, with the surplus electricity being sold back to the national grid for profit. The heat generated is also reused on-site, creating a highly efficient process that aligns with national recycling and renewable energy strategies.
