Edina saves Ice Cream Manufacturer a mouth-watering £440,000 a year while ensuring security of power

R&R Ice Cream faced a challenge with the security of its power supply at its production facility, as it had reached its maximum imported supply and was suffering from regular outages. To support its growth ambitions, the company engaged vendor Edina to implement a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant to gain greater independence from the national grid.

Edina installed two containerized MWM gas engines with a combined output of 4MWe. This solution provided a secure power supply, significant cost savings, and reduced carbon emissions. The project saved R&R Ice Cream an estimated £440,000 per year on its energy bill, reduced CO2 emissions by 4,800 tonnes annually, and paid for itself in just over three years, allowing savings to be reinvested into the business.
