Edina delivers CHP at state-of-the-art concentrate production facility

Ballina Beverages, a large soft drinks company, sought to improve its security of power at its production facility in Ireland. The company selected vendor Edina to supply and install a turnkey 2MWe combined heat and power (CHP) plant to meet its base electrical and thermal load requirements.

Edina implemented a solution centered around a natural gas-fired MWM engine, which was packaged at their own manufacturing facility for a speedy on-site installation. The CHP plant provides electricity and thermal energy in the form of steam and low-pressure hot water, operating in parallel with the grid with the capability for islandable operation during a mains failure. The entire plant's synchronization was managed by Edina's sophisticated Total Energy Management control system.
