Edina CHP prescribes over £125,000 saving for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sought to reduce its energy costs and carbon emissions at its Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. The challenge was to find an economically viable solution that would also maintain the site's security of power supply. Vendor Edina was selected to provide a turnkey combined heat and power (CHP) installation.

Edina implemented a 600kWe MWM TCG 2016 V12 gas engine housed in a containerized, acoustic enclosure. The solution captures heat from the power generation process to serve the hospital's thermal load, achieving an overall system efficiency of over 87 percent. This project by Edina reduces carbon emissions by approximately 817 tonnes per year and saves the trust over £125,000 in annual energy costs.
