Edina biogas CHP powers innovative diversification fish farm

Springvale Farm, a farming business, sought to diversify its operations and become energy self-sufficient. They faced a significant challenge in securing the necessary funding for an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant. The customer contracted the vendor, Edina, to supply and install biogas combined heat and power (CHP) plants to meet these ambitious goals.

Edina installed two MWM TCG 2016 biogas CHP engines, which were containerized to minimize noise for the nearby historic site. The solution powered the farm's new leisure facilities and an innovative fish farm with heat and electricity. The CHP plants achieved remarkable uptime of over 99% and enabled the farm to export excess power to the grid. The project, funded by a peer-to-peer loan, won the 'Best on-farm AD plant' award in 2016 and is recognized for its low environmental impact and high efficiency.
