Case Study: E.ON achieves lower-carbon district heating in London with Edina CHP

Edina 8.6MW CHP powers London, Citigen, district heating scheme

The customer, E.ON, required an update to the energy generation at its Citigen district heating scheme in central London. The challenge involved replacing old equipment within a constrained, listed building site while maintaining uninterrupted heat and cooling services to the city's major properties throughout the project. E.ON awarded the contract to the vendor, Edina, to supply and install new, high-efficiency CHP generators.

Edina installed two MWM TCG 2032 gas engines to modernize the plant. This solution provided significant financial and environmental results, including annual CO2 savings of approximately 5,000 tonnes and lower energy charges for customers. The project by Edina also eliminated health and safety risks associated with the old cooling system and provided a more efficient, secure energy service to a large portion of the city.
