CHP reduces energy costs for Irish grower Keelings

Keelings, a multinational fresh produce grower and distributor, sought to increase operational efficiency and reduce rising energy costs. They engaged vendor Edina to implement a solution, which was a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system for their greenhouse facilities.

Edina installed a 2MWe natural gas CHP unit that provided electricity, heat, and a purified stream of CO2 for use as a fertilizer in the greenhouses. This solution successfully lowered Keelings' energy expenses, created an additional revenue stream from selling surplus power to the grid, and improved crop productivity through the recovered CO2. The system also features advanced monitoring for optimized efficiency.
