STACKIT launches confidential cloud offerings in a few months with Edgeless Systems

STACKIT, the German cloud platform owned by Europe's largest retailer Schwarz Group, was building a sovereign European cloud. Their challenge was to enable confidential computing features at scale on their OpenStack infrastructure, which already used AMD CPUs, in order to keep customer data always encrypted and verifiably secure. To meet this challenge and their customer requirements, STACKIT partnered with vendor Edgeless Systems.

Edgeless Systems supported STACKIT to set up confidential VMs and then integrated their product, Constellation, into the STACKIT cloud portal. Constellation is an always-encrypted, CNCF-certified Kubernetes engine that provides complete infrastructure isolation. As a result of working with Edgeless Systems, STACKIT was able to launch its new confidential-computing products, STACKIT Confidential Kubernetes and STACKIT Confidential Server, from scratch in only a few months, adding innovative security features to its sovereign cloud offering.
