Case Study: Ubisoft improves multiplayer latency with Edgegap

A Edgegap Case Study

Preview of the Ubisoft Case Study

Ubisoft - Customer Case Study

Ubisoft, the global game publisher, needed a way to improve peer-to-peer multiplayer performance in Far Cry 5, where strict NAT settings and the limited distance to relay servers were causing latency and connection issues for players. Edgegap worked with Ubisoft to test whether dynamically placing relays closer to players using edge computing could reduce delays and improve the multiplayer experience.

Using Edgegap’s dynamic orchestration and edge deployment platform, Ubisoft’s relay traffic was replayed across 600,000 transactions to find better relay locations. Edgegap improved player experience in 95% of matches, cut average round-trip time by 58% (from 116.27 ms to 48.98 ms), increased the share of players below 50 ms from 14% to 78%, and raised the share below 100 ms from 67% to 91%.
