NephoScale uses Cumulus and Edgecore Switches

NephoScale, an IaaS provider and cloud software developer, needed a fast, scalable and flexible datacenter network to support its NephOS hybrid cloud platform and grow with customer demand. To meet that challenge it turned to Edgecore Networks, deploying open networking hardware (Edgecore AS5712-54X and AS6712-32X switches) running Cumulus Linux to provide an affordable, production-ready foundation.

Edgecore Networks supplied a leaf-and-spine Layer 3 Clos architecture—AS5712-54X 48×10G (with 6×40G uplinks) as top-of-rack leaves connected to AS6712-32X 32×40G spine switches—running Cumulus Linux via ONIE. The deployment (2 AS6712-32X spines and 4 AS5712-54X leaves) delivered 10G rack-level connectivity and 40G spine capacity, giving NephoScale higher, easier-to-manage throughput, greater scalability and lower cost per port for its NephOS-powered hybrid cloud.
