CleanSafeCloud, a Swiss cloud service provider, needed to launch a highly available, secure and dynamically scalable object-storage service while keeping setup and operations simple for a small team. To build an SDN fabric that integrates with OpenStack and avoids box-by-box management, they evaluated white‑box switching and adopted Big Switch’s Big Cloud Fabric together with 10G/40G open networking switches—using Edgecore Networks bare‑metal switches as their hardware platform.

Edgecore Networks provided the AS6712‑32X 40G spine and AS5712‑54X 10G leaf switches as part of Big Cloud Fabric starter kits (with Big Switch controllers and BCF licenses), enabling zero‑touch provisioning of a leaf‑and‑spine SDN fabric. The deployment—two racks of Edgecore gear connected by 40G leaf‑spine links—can support roughly 2,000 virtual machines, brings a fully functional network up in minutes, and delivered centralized management, lower CapEx and simplified operations for CleanSafeCloud.
