How Discovery Maximizes User Acquisition and Delights Viewers

Discovery+ wanted new ways to help viewers discover content, grow audiences, and differentiate its on-demand streaming service with a massive library of popular shows and original programming. To support that goal, Edgecast helped the customer use theme-based linear channels as part of its OTT experience, leveraging Edgio Channel Scheduler and Syndication Publishing APIs.

Edgecast implemented an automated channel workflow that scheduled and published curated content from the customer’s CMS, with four redundant stream versions per channel for high availability and resilience. The result was a more efficient, highly available publishing process that helped Discovery+ launch 24/7 non-stop channels of popular content, keep viewers engaged longer, and support ongoing subscriber growth.
