SolidRun HoneyComb enables secure PCI passthrough and AWS Graviton bare-metal support with Edera

The customer, SolidRun HoneyComb, faced a significant challenge: their SystemReady ARM server platform could not run the Xen hypervisor. Xen's architecture was built for device-tree-based systems, leaving it unable to boot on their modern ACPI and UEFI-based hardware, which also prevented critical functions like secure PCI passthrough of devices to guest virtual machines.

The vendor, Edera, addressed this by making crucial fixes to Xen's ACPI table parsing, Spectre-BHB mitigation, and SMMUv3 driver. This enabled Xen to boot successfully on the SolidRun HoneyComb platform and achieve secure PCI passthrough with SMMU translation. As a result, Edera's solution brought bare-metal Xen support to AWS Graviton instances, directly addressing the customer's need for a secure, modern virtualization platform on ARM servers.
