Ecteon’s Contraxx Increases Productivity and Improves Contract Completion, Quality and Cycle Time for Blue Shield of California

Blue Shield of California (BSCA), a nonprofit health plan serving four million members, faced inconsistent, manual contract and document management across multiple departments—over 100 templates, decentralized storage, long cycle times and growing in-process inventory that undermined productivity. After issuing an RFP for an enterprise contract lifecycle management solution, BSCA selected Ecteon and its Contraxx platform (branded internally as ConDocs) to centralize, standardize and automate contract creation and storage.

Ecteon configured Contraxx/ConDocs with BSCA through a pilot and iterative rollouts, aligning the system to changing regulations and business processes and training multiple user groups. The Ecteon solution reduced contract inventory from about 1,500 to roughly 150 documents, cut document creation from two–three weeks to 24–48 hours, enabled thousands of contracts to be managed and more than 150 users to generate documents, and delivered faster production (90 documents in one day) plus improved tracking, reporting and distribution.
