Baker and Taylor Chooses Contraxx to Meet Growing Needs

Baker & Taylor faced growing contract-management chaos: the company executes hundreds of agreements annually but lacked a central repository, relying on legal-held originals, department-specific filing methods and Excel spreadsheets. To address this, Baker & Taylor selected Ecteon’s Contraxx contract lifecycle management solution to standardize templates, centralize contract storage and improve visibility across the organization.

Ecteon implemented Contraxx in phased deployments, with Phase 1 focusing on a single template, centralized key contract data, electronic document repository, automated alerts for critical dates, content search and reporting, and Phase 2 adding boilerplate language management and capture of contracting rationale. The system went live June 1, and with Ecteon’s installation and training support Baker & Taylor gained a skilled Contraxx administrator, reduced time spent tracking documents, improved contract controls and expanded the system to meet evolving needs.
