Kentucky-Based Natural Products Market Installs CATAPULT

Good Foods Co‑op, a customer‑owned natural products market and café in Lexington, Kentucky with two locations, faced manual, paper‑heavy and inefficient point‑of‑sale and membership processes that hurt checkout speed, reporting and accurate co‑op fund tracking. In fall 2008 they turned to ECRS and installed the CATAPULT system with CATAPULT Membership Server (CMS) and energy‑efficient Freedom Panel POS hardware to address cooperative‑specific needs like owner membership management and multi‑store reporting.

ECRS implemented CATAPULT (CAS, CMS, Freedom Panel POS, scanner/scale, signature capture, CID and integrated gift cards), moving owner records and signatures electronic, automating at‑POS payments, eliminating mailed statements and mag‑stripe cards, and enabling customized touchscreen menus. The result: faster checkouts and fewer open rings, streamlined reporting and correct allocation of sales to the Accrued Patronage Fund across locations, a 99.2% scan rate, reduced paper waste and lower energy use—delivering clear time and cost savings for Good Foods Co‑op.
