Tongsuh Petrochemical’s Commitment to Global Sustainability Standards

Tongsuh Petrochemical Corporation, a major South Korean petrochemical manufacturer, faced the challenge of meeting the stringent sustainability demands of its global clients, particularly in Europe, to maintain its international competitiveness. To objectively assess and improve its ESG performance, the company undertook a sustainability evaluation using the rating service from EcoVadis.

The solution implemented with EcoVadis involved a comprehensive, multi-departmental assessment across four key themes. Following their first assessment, Tongsuh standardized internal processes, created shared guidelines, and established a dedicated server for evidence, making subsequent evaluations more efficient. The measurable result was a rapid improvement in their score, moving from a Bronze medal in 2023 to a Gold medal in 2024. This achievement enhanced their internal commitment to sustainability and elicited positive responses from customers, with some even seeking new collaborations.
