SNCF, a major railway transportation company, faced significant challenges in measuring its Scope 3 emissions and engaging its vast network of over 39,000 suppliers on their decarbonization journeys. The company struggled with a reliance on industry averages and a lack of supplier-specific carbon data, which hindered accurate carbon accounting and procurement decisions. To address this, SNCF turned to EcoVadis and its Carbon Action Manager solution.

The integration between EcoVadis and the Sweep platform provided a solution by directly feeding primary carbon data for 3,000 suppliers into SNCF's carbon accounting system. This EcoVadis partnership enabled real-time, supplier-specific Scope 3 calculations with enhanced accuracy, which supported better supplier benchmarking and smarter procurement. The results included significant time and cost savings, improved workflow efficiency, and increased reliability and traceability in SNCF's decarbonization efforts.
