AkzoNobel, a major paint manufacturer, was committed to a more sustainable future and sought to transform its procurement practices to meet its ambitious environmental and social goals. To help achieve this, the company partnered with vendor EcoVadis, utilizing its sustainability ratings and assessment services to evaluate and improve the performance of its vast supply chain.

EcoVadis provided the solution by enabling AkzoNobel to assess over 1,200 suppliers, achieving 100% spend coverage. This program, which included leveraging the EcoVadis Academy and Corrective Action Plans, drove significant improvement, with 92% of suppliers increasing their scores. The results were substantial, including an 80% reduction in scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and progress towards circular use of materials. EcoVadis's tools were also crucial for compliance with new regulations, solidifying AkzoNobel's position as a sustainability leader.
