A Ecovadis Case Study
Nitto Denko, a manufacturer of high-performance materials, aimed to become an "indispensable leader in sustainable practices" by 2030 but faced limitations in its sustainability assessments. Its previous methods, relying on self-management with emails and spreadsheets, were burdensome and lacked the global scalability needed to meet growing customer and internal audit demands. To overcome this, the company began working with EcoVadis and its sustainability ratings service.
With the EcoVadis platform, Nitto Denko implemented a comprehensive, company-wide strategy to engage its global suppliers. This included holding international briefing sessions and using localized approaches to drive participation. As a result, by October 2024, approximately 400 of its 500 targeted suppliers were either in progress or had completed the EcoVadis assessment, with regions like Japan achieving a 60% participation rate. EcoVadis provided the necessary tools to build a more sustainable supply chain and work towards its 2030 vision.
