A EcoOnline Case Study

Preview of the Ericsson Case Study

Ericsson needed to protect field service engineers working alone, out of hours, and in areas of low signal

Ericsson, the global telecommunications company headquartered in Stockholm with around 100,000 employees, needed a more reliable way to protect its field service engineers working alone, out of hours, and in low-signal or remote locations. The company’s UK operations include more than 500 lone workers, and Ericsson wanted a better emergency alerting solution than its existing approach. EcoOnline’s StaySafe lone worker app was used to address this challenge.

EcoOnline implemented its Lone Worker solution with timed sessions, missed check-in and session expiry alerts, a panic button, and live location visibility through the Lone Worker Hub. Ericsson also adopted Low Signal Mode so alerts and session functions could still work over basic 2G connections in remote areas. As a result, Ericsson’s lone workers are better protected, the rollout was completed in just two weeks, and the company now uses 27 configurable hubs with reporting that helps supervisors monitor usage and improve training.
