The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) faced significant multi-jurisdictional coordination challenges along the congested Alicia Parkway corridor, which was managed by six different agencies with disparate systems. To improve mobility and reduce emissions, OCTA needed an interoperable and scalable Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) solution. Econolite deployed its Centracs ATMS and traffic signal controllers, creating a unified management environment that included both physical and virtual systems. This solution integrated with existing infrastructure and enabled coordinated, real-time operations. The results were substantial, including a 75% reduction in stops during peak periods, an 11% reduction in overall travel times, and a 7% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Econolite's solution is also projected to save over 1.1 million gallons of fuel in three years.
