A Econolite Case Study
The City of Spokane engaged Econolite to optimize traffic signal control along the North Division Street Corridor (from Euclid to the North Division “Y”). Spokane’s challenge was to adapt signal timing to prevailing traffic conditions and deploy a scalable, city‑wide ATMS; Econolite proposed its Centracs® system with the Centracs Adaptive module and Cobalt® ATC controllers to meet those needs.
Econolite installed and configured Centracs and Centracs Adaptive (including Local Edition, Synchro Interface, and Enhanced MOE), replaced the city’s M50 controllers with Cobalt ATC controllers running ASC/3 at 12 intersections, integrated the system on the City‑provided Hyper‑V VM environment over fiber/Cisco switchgear, entered detection and coordination data, developed graphics, and delivered training, testing, a 1‑year warranty and SMA. The Econolite solution delivered centrally managed, adaptive split and offset optimization across the corridor, giving the City of Spokane a full‑featured, expandable ATMS covering 12 intersections and improved responsiveness to real‑time traffic demand.
