Case Study: Houston METRO achieves automated reversible lane gate control and enhanced monitoring with Econolite's Centracs ARGO

A Econolite Case Study

Preview of the Houston Case Study

Econolite Systems Was Selected to Design, Develop, Furnish, Install, Integrate, and Test an Automated Reversible Gate Operation System as Part of the Hot Lane Project

Houston needed to automate its barrier-separated reversible lanes as part of the HOT Lanes program to support dominant inbound/outbound travel patterns on major freeways. TransCore, the prime contractor, selected Econolite to provide an automated reversible gate operation solution using the Centracs ATMS platform and custom Centracs applications.

Econolite designed, developed, furnished, installed, integrated, and tested the Centracs ARGO system—including custom software and the ASC/3-2070 program—to monitor, control, schedule, and verify signs, gates, barriers, and cameras. The Econolite solution eliminated the need for manually operated gates, enabled centralized remote control and real-time status and traffic viewing, and integrated Centracs CCTV to manage up to 200 IP cameras with automatic selection and recording in response to field alarms.
