The Town of Cary faced an aging traffic management system that made it difficult to program Time‑of‑Day signal timing plans, deploy traffic‑responsive control, manage CCTV and fiber infrastructure, and provide reliable real‑time traveler information. To modernize operations and improve traffic flow, the Town selected Econolite and its Centracs® ATMS turnkey solution.

Econolite implemented Centracs ATMS to link 27 CCTV cameras, approximately 100 miles of fiber optic network and about 189 state‑of‑the‑art traffic signal controllers to a Traffic Command Center, adding emergency‑vehicle preemption and live video feeds shared with NCDOT, Cary’s 911 center, Cary TV and local media.
