IAMGOLD Corporation, an international mining company with operations in Canada, Burkina Faso and Suriname, needed to move away from spreadsheet-based GHG accounting and reporting to meet CDP and Mining Association of Canada (MAC) requirements more efficiently and transparently. In 2013 it engaged Ecometrica and its Ecometrica Platform (online sustainability reporting platform) to centralize data collection, emissions calculation and multi-scheme reporting across its global sites.

Ecometrica uploaded IAMGOLD’s 2011–2012 historical assessments and delivered 2013–2014 assessments in-platform, configured monthly tracking of scope 1 and 2 emissions and bespoke KPIs (e.g., moved/treated ore), and enabled water, energy and waste tracking plus process-level analytics. Ecometrica analysts QA’d the data and researched specific emission factors (such as ANFO); with five years of data, IAMGOLD now uses monthly multi-site input, dynamic dashboards and instant emission/intensity reporting to improve transparency, satisfy CDP/MAC reporting and support strategic decision-making.
