How SmartestEnergy Business is engaging customers around sustainability

SmartestEnergy Business, a next-generation energy company, sought to take a more proactive stance on climate change and enhance its brand reputation. They faced challenges in finding affordable, cutting-edge carbon projects to support, particularly in areas like blue carbon removal. They partnered with the vendor Ecologi to access its services for funding carbon avoidance credits, carbon removal credits, and tree planting.

Ecologi's solution was embedded throughout SmartestEnergy's business model. For every renewable energy customer, Ecologi plants ten trees and provides certificates. The vendor also enabled a monthly Climate Action Calendar to fund diverse projects, which are showcased in marketing materials. As a result, SmartestEnergy has funded over 18,000 trees, avoided 159.7 tonnes of CO2e, and removed 5 tonnes of CO2e, boosting their appeal to climate-conscious customers and giving them a competitive advantage.
