Detroit Department of Transportation - Customer Case Study

The Detroit Department of Transportation faced disjointed communication and manual, paper-based scheduling that left drivers running behind, limited visibility into bookings and driver data, and cumbersome coordination with brokers and subcontractors. To address these issues DDOT turned to Ecolane and its Ecolane DRT Brokerage Software System to modernize dispatch, scheduling and reporting.

Ecolane deployed Android touch-screen MDTs, SMS notifications, self-service web booking, Google Transit integration, a subcontractor portal and advanced reporting plus training, enabling fully automated scheduling and manifest flexibility. As a result—per DDOT—on-time performance improved 23%, weekly rides reached 6,375, complaints fell from 25/week to 2/week (a 92% decrease), vehicle count dropped from 53 to 46, 100 additional same-day trips were added, RPH rose from 1.40 to 2.42 scheduled and 2.45 delivered (goal 2.25), and satisfaction hit 99.98% with Ecolane’s solution.
