A Ecolane Case Study
Coast RTA (Waccamaw County RTA) in Myrtle Beach, SC, faced highly manual operations—paper manifests, manual scheduling with no automation, no mobile data communications, and no secure mobile payment or rider mapping. To modernize its paratransit and demand-response services, Coast RTA engaged Ecolane and its suite of solutions including Ecolane DRT, advanced reporting and ad-hoc tools, and mobile/MDT technologies.
Ecolane implemented automated scheduling and dispatch (Ecolane DRT), the Advanced Ecolane Reporting System and ad-hoc reporting, Ecolane Touch Screen MDTs with turn-by-turn navigation, a mobile app supporting credit card payments, booking/management and push notifications, plus SMS messaging. The result: rides per hour increased from 0.84 to 1.41, 63–93 trips per day (about 1,700 trips/month), 3,000 more trips in March 2020 vs March 2019, and a 29% reduction in revenue hours—delivering significant productivity gains for Coast RTA.
