Department of Toxic Substances Control - Customer Case Study

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) needed a better way to consistently track project data for military sites. In 2004, the agency was relying on disconnected local files, spreadsheets, paper-based handoffs, and inconsistent tracking methods, making it difficult to aggregate data, build true project profiles, and manage work effectively. EcoInteractive provided its web-based EcoTracker SaaS platform as the foundation for DTSC’s integrated system, EnviroStor.

EcoInteractive implemented EnviroStor to centralize project schedules, deliverables, cost data, scientific and analytical information, GIS mapping, and public reporting in one streamlined application. The system helped DTSC digitize and standardize workflows across programs, improve data tracking, resource allocation, cost tracking, and public transparency. Over time, use of EnviroStor expanded beyond site mitigation to support permitting, enforcement, and criminal investigation.
