ALES GREY eliminates 100% of conventional plastic polybags with EcoEnclose

ALES GREY, a California-based company producing circular algae-based footwear, sought packaging for its new Frontline Pro 3 shoe line that matched the product's sustainability without sacrificing performance. Their challenge was to eliminate all conventional plastic from product packaging while ensuring durability, moisture protection, and a high-end unboxing experience. They partnered with vendor EcoEnclose, which utilized Sway Polybags made from seaweed to address this need.

The solution from EcoEnclose involved producing customized, home-compostable polybags made with regenerative seaweed. These Sway Polybags successfully integrated with ALES GREY's domestic supply chain, removing 100% of conventional plastic packaging for the shoe line. The results included a seamless operational rollout, a strengthened sustainability narrative aligned with the brand's algae-based products, and a positive customer response. EcoEnclose's partnership enabled a tangible reduction in plastic waste and enhanced ALES GREY's position as a leader in sustainable footwear.
