ecoDriver worked with NHS Trust to address unnecessary energy waste in its hospital building controls. The trust wanted to reduce heating demand and operating costs across its CHP-backed HVAC and boiler systems, and ecoDriver Low Carbon Consultants reviewed the building management system and weather compensation controls to find the cause of poor performance.

ecoDriver identified two control-programme errors: incorrect averaging inputs that made the system think temperatures were lower than they were, and an OAT sensor wired into the wrong module, both of which were driving excess heat demand. After ecoDriver fixed the control programme, the system now operates as intended, reducing heat demand, cutting the need for gas boilers, and supporting lower cost and CO2e emissions.
