Airedale General Hospital worked with ecoDriver to investigate unexpectedly high heat demand and overheating across the hospital. Using ecoDriver’s energy management platform alongside a decarbonisation survey and Collaborative Energy Efficiency Programme (CEEP), the team measured and reviewed how heat was being used and controlled, and found that building controls were not operating as intended.

ecoDriver identified that 3-port mixing valves had been manually overridden, causing heat to be delivered at much higher temperatures than needed. By switching the controls back to automatic, the hospital cut heat demand by about 30%, reduced gas consumption, cost and CO2e emissions, and improved comfort in overheated areas.
