Jack in the Box, through Ibrahim Investment Corp., needed a better way to manage comfort and food safety across 29 restaurant locations. With older thermostats, HVAC technicians were frequently called to adjust settings or fix tampering, and staff had to manually monitor freezer temperatures to avoid spoilage. ecobee’s SmartBuildings solution, including the EMS Si smart thermostat and sensors, was used to address these challenges.
ecobee implemented scheduled temperature control, remote thermostat access, freezer temperature alerts, and reporting tools to improve oversight and reduce manual work. The pilot delivered strong results, saving an average of $500 per month in HVAC maintenance costs and an estimated $10,000–$15,000 in inventory, while freezer alerts helped prevent tens of thousands of dollars in perishable losses.
