Bruce Hall Home Center, a lumber, building materials and hardware store in Cooperstown, New York, faced costly, labor-intensive annual physical inventories and a time-consuming receivables/accounts process. To address these challenges they implemented Spruce from ECI Software Solutions, a Windows-based, industry-specific management system tailored for lumberyard and building material dealers.

ECI Software Solutions’ Spruce replaced annual physicals with cycle counts using handheld scanners, cutting what Carolyn Roth estimated could be roughly $4,000 in extra labor and lost business, simplified receiving by eliminating manual entry of long packing slips, and its A/P Accrual feature reduced the time to assemble monthly income statements from as much as two weeks to five or six days. The system’s document management and familiar Windows interface further increased efficiency and sped new-hire onboarding, delivering measurable time and cost savings for Bruce Hall Home Center.
