Chic Lumber, a multi-location building materials retailer in O’Fallon, Missouri, faced slow, paper-heavy operations: annual physical inventory closed the business for a weekend and required extensive overtime, monthly customer statements took four people two days to produce, and thousands of invoices were stored in filing cabinets. ECI Software Solutions implemented Spruce with handheld cycle counting, document management, real-time dashboards and an easy Windows-based POS. The results: inventory turns are now in the thirties, a 60,000-SKU store is counted multiple times per year (lumber counted weekly), monthly statements dropped from four people two days to one person four hours, training at the counter takes about 30 minutes, and roughly 1,000 sq. ft. of paper storage was eliminated—delivering faster workflows, better purchasing confidence, and measurable cost and space savings.
