Preferred Office Technologies, a regional dealer of office equipment, supplies and IT/document management services, needed to boost service-department productivity and get better control of inventory and meter collections as it grew. Working with ECI Software Solutions, Preferred implemented e-automate (including RemoteTech dispatch) and later added FMAudit to tackle challenges like limited real-time visibility of technicians and parts across locations, slow annual inventory reconciliation, and labor‑intensive meter reads.
ECI Software Solutions’ e-automate provided real‑time technician tracking, mobile parts lookup/ordering, and centralized inventory visibility—cutting annual inventory reconciliation from up to a week to one day at the Fort Smith location and half a day at Fayetteville—and helping techs complete more calls per day. Adding ECI’s FMAudit automated meter collection and supplies replenishment, reducing meter‑collection staffing from two people to one even as the installed base grew from 1,400 to 2,500 machines, saving labor and improving billing timeliness.
