JH Richards, a Birmingham-based manufacturer and refurbisher of precision white metal bearings, faced challenges controlling workshop documentation and getting reliable job costing to maximise profitability on bespoke, small-batch jobs. To address this, the company selected M1 ERP from ECI Software Solutions for its customisation and manufacturing/accounting capabilities.
ECI Software Solutions implemented M1 ERP with customised workflows and M1 Document Management, allowing unlimited documents (drawings, video, spreadsheets) to be linked to quotes, parts, jobs and purchase orders and enabling flexible job searches and work instructions. The solution improved traceability and shop-floor control—JH Richards still uses about 95% of the original functionality, has had customer audits praise its work documentation as “best-in-class,” and reports that M1 has effectively paid for itself while delivering stronger job costing and profitability visibility.
