Pear Therapeutics launches FDA-cleared MS depression app with Echobind

Pear Therapeutics, a company known for creating the first FDA-authorized prescription digital therapeutic, faced the challenge of developing an app to treat depression in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. They partnered with the vendor Echobind to build a custom chatbot application, named Pear 006, that would deliver Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to users.

Echobind implemented a solution by creating a proprietary chatbot "brain" contained within the app. This custom solution directed patients through guided conversational pathways and was designed for minimal developer intervention, allowing Pear's experts to easily manage and refine content. The result was a streamlined and scalable platform that entered Pear's clinical study pipeline, enabling the continuous improvement of patient interactions with little ongoing engineering effort.
