Video and Project-Based Learning Give Architectural Engineering Students Skills to Succeed On-the-Job

The University of Cincinnati’s architectural engineering program needed a better way to prepare 185 students for demanding co-op placements, where they had to master construction concepts and complex design and modeling software before entering the workplace. Professor Anton Harfmann turned to Echo360 and its interactive video platform to support a project-based learning approach that would help students learn practical skills more effectively.

Echo360 enabled automatically recorded lecture capture, on-demand how-to videos in the LMS, polling during class, and learner analytics to track comprehension and spot where students struggled. Using Echo360, Harfmann could adjust instruction in real time, and the result was stronger student performance in co-op assignments, with employers reporting improvement in almost every category.
