A Echo360 Case Study
University of Turku, a research university of about 25,000 staff and students across seven faculties, needed a way to give learners more flexible access to lectures and to support staff in using innovative teaching methods. Students wanted reliable ways to catch up if they missed classes and distance learners needed live access without travelling; the university chose a lecture-capture solution to meet these needs.
Since introducing Echo360 in 2015 the university rolled out automated lecture capture, live streaming, editing and personal-recording tools, starting in a few halls and growing organically. The system has enabled flipped-classroom and on-demand teaching, kept recordings secure, and begun to surface viewing analytics — so far producing about 1,300 videos and roughly 60,000 hours of student viewing this academic year.
