How Students Learn with Video Technology First-Hand

McMaster University wanted a better way to train instructors to use classroom technology and understand how students experience it. At the MacPherson Institute, Digital Pedagogy Specialist Christa Morrison introduced and trained faculty on Echo360, focusing on how video technology, lecture capture, and student response tools could support deeper learning and engagement.

Echo360’s training helped instructors experience the platform from the student perspective and showed how it could be used for interactive activities, polls, low-stakes assessments, and confusion alerts. As a result, McMaster University saw increased student participation across face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses, with more opportunities for students to interact with content and each other through Echo360.
