A EazyStock Case Study
Cutwel, established in 1996 as the UK’s leading precision engineering cutting tool distributor serving over 12,000 customers, was struggling to manage 35,000 SKUs, nearly 500,000 non‑stocked items (95,000 listed online), 800–1,000 orders a day and 50–60 deliveries from 75 suppliers. Reliance on multiple spreadsheets caused procurement errors, unclear lead times, overordering and poor forecasting. Head of Operations and Procurement Katie Ellis evaluated inventory optimization options and selected EazyStock for its forecasting functionality, training and Merlin ERP connector.
EazyStock was deployed in October 2022 to improve availability, eliminate spreadsheets, optimise resources and deliver accurate lead times, with hands‑on training from EazyStock’s customer success team. The results include a drop in order frequency (from up to six times a month to a maximum of three), savings of about £1,500 per month with the largest supplier (payback in ~1.5 months), a 25% reduction in stockouts on active parts, a 10% sales increase, a 5% rise in active stock levels and a reduction in average dispatches from 1.33 to 1.13 (around 100 fewer dispatches per day), plus lower freight, packaging and emissions.
