UltraShift PLUS Transmissions Provide Better Performance and Reduce Maintenance Costs

Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution, an El Paso, Texas-based heavy-duty linehaul trucking company, needed a transmission that could support safe operation and strong performance in demanding over-the-road freight service. With safety a top priority, the fleet tested Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS transmission for about 10 months to see if it could improve hill handling and overall drivability.

Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS transmission, including its Hill Start Aid and electronic clutch actuator, addressed the driver and maintenance concerns Stagecoach had with older transmissions. Stagecoach reported better performance and reliability, fewer clutch issues after software updates, and expects lower maintenance costs over the life of the vehicles. John Plote said Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS will become the company’s standard specification going forward.
