Case Study: Challenger Group of Companies improves fuel efficiency and driver comfort with Eaton UltraShift PLUS LSE

A Eaton Case Study

Preview of the Challenger Group of Companies Case Study

UltraShift LSE is up for the challenge

The Challenger Group of Companies, a major Canadian transportation firm, faced challenges with driver retention and improving fuel economy across its large fleet of heavy-duty trucks. To address these issues, they worked with vendor Eaton to implement its UltraShift PLUS LSE automated transmissions in new International tractors.

Eaton's solution was a jointly developed transmission designed for linehaul applications, featuring a small-step design to keep engines in their most efficient RPM zone. The results included improved fuel efficiency, with Eaton's own testing showing a 2-4% improvement, and significantly increased driver comfort due to the automated two-pedal design. The owner also reported that the transmissions contributed to overall vehicle safety.
