Refrigerated truck fleet has warmed up to Eaton automation

Central Trucking, Inc. is a family-owned refrigerated carrier based in Columbus, Indiana, serving shippers across the U.S. The company needed to control high fuel costs while also recruiting, training, and retaining quality drivers. Eaton helped address these challenges with its UltraShift PLUS automated transmissions.

Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS LAS automated transmissions were specified on new truck orders to improve fuel economy and make driving easier. Central Trucking reported fuel-efficiency gains of up to one-half percent in side-by-side testing versus manual transmissions, while drivers grew to prefer the two-pedal setup because they felt less fatigued at the end of the day. Eaton’s solution is now set to equip the company’s full fleet as it completes its next buying cycle.
