Case Study: a Canada-based investor-owned utility achieves a self-healing, more reliable grid with Eaton Cooper Power series Yukon feeder automation

A Eaton Case Study

Preview of the Canada based Investor Owned Utility Case Study

One of Canada’s largest investor-owned utilities relies on Eaton to help it automate and optimize the electrical grid

A Canada-based investor-owned utility faced the challenge of modernizing its aging power infrastructure to meet rapidly growing demand. The utility needed to implement Smart Grid solutions that would automate the identification and resolution of power outages to improve reliability for its customers. They partnered with Eaton to pilot a solution using Eaton’s Cooper Power series Yukon feeder automation.

Eaton provided a centralized, device-independent automation solution that integrated seamlessly with the utility's new SCADA system. The result was a “self-healing” grid that automatically detects, isolates, and responds to power disturbances, minimizing outages and restoration times. The investment with Eaton is paying dividends by reducing blackouts and saving valuable personnel time through remote management capabilities.
